Throwback Thursday: Bloodsport
Bloodsport was and is still one of my favorite movies of all time. It is easily my favorite Van Damme film and I still get chills every time I watch it. For his first starring role, Jean Claude has a noticeable amount of charisma and it’s hard not to love his fighting prowess during his Kumite fights. The simple plot makes it work as JCVD doesn’t have to do any serious acting and Donald Gibb totally seems like someone that I would hang out with. It’s kind of cool to see a lot of these behind the scenes photos because it looks like the cast and crew sincerely had a good time. Pictures can, of course, be misleading but it certainly looks like all of the actors and martial artists who performed in the movie made the most of their time. I will always look back fondly on Bloodsport as a movie, since it was the first time that I saw Van Damme on screen, and to this day he is still, in my opinion, one of the best action stars alive.
You may notice that the final three images feature the real-life Frank Dux in them. Enjoy.
