What Not To Watch: Terminal Rush
Time is terror… and this movie is terrible!
Welcome to another edition of What Not To Watch featuring Terminal Rush, a film starring Don “The Dragon” Wilson and a man who is no stranger to What Not To Watch, “Rowdy” Roddy Piper.
I knew going in just by looking at the poster for this one, that there was a very good chance that this one was going to end up being an upcoming What Not To Watch and in this case you can judge a movie by its cover.
But it was streaming for free on Amazon Prime and the site did not cover any other Don “The Dragon” Wilson movies so I took a chance that proved not to be one of the benefits of being an Amazon Prime member.
For those of you who don’t know Don “The Dragon” Wilson. He is known as the greatest kickboxing champion in the history of the sport. He may also be the first actor of Asian descent that I’ve seen portray a Native American character.
Here’s the story, some bad guys led by Harrison Dekker (Michael Anderson Jr.) break into Hoover Dam, take hostages and threaten to blow up the dam causing all sorts of damage and destruction unless they get $25 million in a briefcase… even though it is physically impossible to fit $25 million in a briefcase. I researched this and the most you can get in a standard briefcase is $1 million. It doesn’t really matter because the whole plan is a smoke screen for what Dekker is really after… unfortunately for him one of his hostages (the head of Hoover Dam security) has a son who is former special forces… Jacob Harper (Don “The Dragon” Wilson). Jacob’s dad having worked at Hoover Dam for decades, passed on some of the secrets to his son, so Jacob uses this knowledge to sneak into the Dam and take out Dekker, so it quickly becomes Die Hard: Hoover Dam, except me saying that is a huge insult to Die Hard.
Roddy Piper plays Dekker’s muscle, Bartel. And he does so with “war paint” that makes him look like a raccoon. Piper does get to blow up a helicopter, one of the few highlights of this abysmal movie.
Neither Wilson or Piper are considered accomplished thespians, but the supporting cast (with the exception of Michael Anderson Jr.) are some of the least talented people to ever appear on film. I think the worst of the bunch was the guy who played Webb and I was shocked to learn he actually is still working today according to his IMDB profile.
And speaking of IMDB, the plot summary they have on the site is wrong in more ways than one. First of all, that somebody bothered to take the time to type up a plot summary for this movie seems wrong (this coming from a guy who both watched the movie and is currently writing about it). Second, they list Wilson’s character as Johnny Price and mention how Price, a highly decorated war hero, who was convicted of a crime he didn’t commit, is called in to redeem himself and to fend off the invaders.
Wilson’s character is a cop, it is never mentioned that he was convicted of anything, his father does mention that he was special ops, but the FBI does not call him in, in fact they don’t even know about him until he’s on the inside… ala Die Hard and again, my apologies to Die Hard.
If everything I’ve already stated isn’t enough for you to believe this is one not to watch, the sheriff’s name is Snookie.
No, not that Snooki, but I’m not sure if she was the sheriff that the movie would be any worse.
