Throwback Thursday: Happy Birthday Fred Williamson
Fred Williamson celebrates his 77th birthday today and I, for one, wouldn’t mess with him for any amount of money. The dude got the nickname “The Hammer” years before he starred in the movie of the same name and it wasn’t for his carpentry skills. The man, while playing professional football would karate chop the shit out of running backs and wide receivers in order to stop them and he loved every second of it. His antics may have earned him the nickname but Williamson really held true to the fact that he was a first-rate badass as he owns black belts in Kempo, Shotokan Karate, and Tae Kwon Do.
Some of Mr. Williamson’s most Hammer-y roles include the 1972 film Hammer, 1973’s Black Casear, and the 1975 hit Boss Nigger. Fred had small roles in Robert Rodriguez’s From Dusk Till Dawn and partnered up with his good friend and fellow badass Jim Brown several times. There is no doubt that Fred Williamson could kick both of our asses so take a couple minutes and gaze at the Black Cobra himself.
I dare you to mess with this man!
For the ladies.
An awesome cover to his hit Hammer!
