Scene of the Week: Universal Soldier

Hunger is one of the best motivators for a man and I can only assume that being back from the dead can leave you with one hell of an appetite. That’s why I’m not surprised when my homie Luc Devereaux strolls into a diner on a random afternoon and chows down on about $300 worth of delicious Middle American cuisine. I’ve been known to eat a house cats weight in breakfast food but the difference between me and Luc is that I’m rolling in the cash and drop $5.99 on breakfast buffets on the reg and Luc doesn’t even pay his bill. There are other differences between the two of us but those are less relevant to this scene so try to not get side tracked. What I’m trying to say is that I understand why Luc had the “eat first, pay never” mentality as he hadn’t had a sandwich since 1970 but I also empathize with the plight of the common man, slaving away behind a grill to eke out a paycheck which gets divided between the government, ex-wife, child support, and alcohol addiction; leaving only $11 weekly for life’s essentials.
