Scene of the Week: Chocolate Warehouse Fight
This isn’t a video of oompa loompas pushing each other around or Willy Wonka murdering children, Chocolate is a martial arts film on a whole different level. As is the case on many films of this nature, the context for the scene is of less importance than the bone-breaking action on screen. If you’ve ever watched a Tony Jaa movie and thirst for more then you need to prepare yourself for some damn good fightin’ !
Chocolate is a pretty bizarre film if you think about it. It tells the story of a young autistic girl who learns martial arts from watching movies and attempts to collect money from a number of bad guys who owe her dying mother.
What I didn’t mention is that this movie is filled to the brim with awesome fight scenes. Jeeja Yanin is spectacular as the lead. As much as I hate seeing little girls beat up dozens of grown men, it is still an absolute blast watching Yanin do it. Some of the best action movies in the world are being released in East Asia, as I’m sure that comes as no surprise to many of our informed readers out there. But this is one film that while it mau have initially slipped under the radar deserves your attention.
Fans of action stars like Bruce Lee and Tony Jaa will see plenty of things that put a smile on their faces. Last time I checked, Chocolate was available for streaming on Netflix so make a point to check it out this holiday season.
