Woman Crush Wednesday: Tanya Roberts

80’s model and actress, possessor of otherworldly beauty, and one of my all-time favorites, Tanya Roberts, is this week’s Woman Crush Wednesday here at Bulletproof Action. I don’t recall how old I was when I first saw Tanya playing the character of Kiri in The Beastmaster, but I can assure you that I was chomping at the bit with my own beastly desires after she appeared on screen. Much respect goes out to Marc Singer for not sporting a serious boner during those scantily clad scenes with Roberts. I don’t know if I would have had the strength to resist. I do remember a time when the sword and sorcery genre was in full swing; Conan, The Beastmaster, those other films that were similar, and those two Euro twins in The Barbarians. I can’t say that many of those movies would take home much hardware during awards season but they sure were fun.

Roberts method of acting never meant much to me. For me, it was all lust. She could have been a deaf mute and I still would have applauded her every scene. The Beastmaster was the film that got her the opportunity to play the Bond girl opposite Roger Moore’s old ass and also turned her into a bonafide star. For our purposes here Roberts’ character nearly fell under the ‘Damsel in Distress’ category but was able to show just enough badassery by the end of the film to warrant her simple title of “Woman Crush Wednesday”. I encourage you to search out your DVD/Bluray copy of the film as soon as possible or just search your Google searches now. Be careful not to search for ‘Tawny Roberts’, as she is a porn star with some filthy, filthy pictures online. You’re welcome.
